Happy New Year, everyone! As we welcome 2018, I’m sure I’m not the only one plotting and planning my resolutions for the year ahead. One of my goals for 2018 is to share more cocktail recipes with you here on the blog. I’m looking forward to sharing some tips and tricks on how you can create some classic drinks, along with some seasonal favorites, from the comfort of your own home.
It may feel glacial outside, but don’t worry, as today I have the perfect winter cocktail that will warm you from your head to your toes; let me introduce you to the Blackberry Forest Fix.
Before I reveal recipe, I just want to give you a little background on the term ‘Fix’. In the bar world the ‘Fix’ is a simple cocktail preparation, traditionally starting with a mix of booze, lemon juice, sugar and ice. Whilst almost perfect as a three ingredient classic, over time the Fix has evolved into a concoction where pineapple or raspberry syrups are added.
In my seasonal take on this traditional Gin Fix, I muddled in a few blackberries, a touch of Rosemary and a slash of Cassis…
Blackberry Forest Fix
1 Rosemary Sprig
20ml lemon juice
20ml simple syrup
1 oz Sole Gin
1 oz Cassis
Combine all ingredients in a glass. Muddle, add ice, and pour into a chilled tumbler glass. Mound with crushed ice and garnish with a Blackberry and straw.
